Hello! I wrote this from Philadelphia! I’m visiting a friend and we’re going to record an episode of Reading in the Time of Monsters! Philadelphia is cool, I’ll probably write about it for next week’s installment. For now, enjoy my latest podcast, three reviews, and some cute cats. If you’re getting this and can’t see the reviews and the cats, subscribe at the Citizen level or above!

PODCAST
Between sickness, busyness, whatever, I fell behind on my self-appointed podcasting schedule. I waffled on what to do. In the end, I took a friend’s advice, and talked about a book I love: John Kennedy Toole’s “A Confederacy of Dunces”. It’s oddly appropriate I post this on Saint Patrick’s Day. There’s nothing of the plastic paddy in Toole, but he was Irish-American, and dare I say there’s something genuinely Irish in his satirical eye, affection for losers (while not sentimentally denying their loserdom), and even a peculiar Celtic way with time… anyway. The audio’s not great. But here it is.
